Welcome to Physical Education and Health! My name is Mrs. Beasley and this is my seventeenth year teaching and my fourteenth year teaching physical education and health at Griggs Road Elementary! I live with my husband, son, and daughter in Clover, South Carolina. I attended high school in Summerville, SC and graduated from College of Charleston. I am excited to see everyone again this year, and I have many new activities to introduce to you!The overall goal of the physical education program at Griggs Road Elementary School is to give students the skills and knowledge to live a physically active lifestyle. A goal for all students is to be able to move skillfully and efficiently in basic locomotor, dance, and game skill patterns.Students in grades first through fifth will earn a physical education/ health grade each nine weeks based on written assessments, skill assessments, and being actively involved in the lesson. It is important that students come to physical education class prepared with appropriate clothing and shoes (tennis shoes or sneakers) in order to participate.Health topics will be introduced and discussed during physical education class in first through fifth grades. Health and physical education will be combined as one grade each nine weeks.Health Unit Outline:First Nine Weeks = NutritionSecond Nine Weeks = FitnessThird Nine Weeks = Body SystemsFourth Nine Weeks = Personal Health
