  • CHS field moves into phase 2

Take a peak at this week's video update of the projects approved in the bond. Since our last update, a drainage system has been installed on the Clover High School athletic field inside the school's track. Once the drainage was in place, the crews began the next phase of the field's installation. The gravel will serve as the foundation of the field. Additional layers of sand and a rubberized pad will be added before we begin to see the new synthetic turf installed. Watching this project progress is similar to watching new carpet or hardwood floors being installed in your house. First, the old carpet (or grass) is removed and imperfections to your subfloor are corrected (dirt leveled and graded). Next, the underlay (gravel) and pad (rubberized pad) go down before carpet is unrolled. Over the next few weeks we will see a similar process unfold. The difference between new carpet at your house and this project? The football field and the areas behind each endzone total nearly 60,000 square feet of turf (or "carpet") whereas a home would be anywhere between 900 square feet to 5,000 square feet.

  • Sports Turf Fields Taking Shape

It's Monday and dirt continues to move at the Clover High and Clover Middle fields that are being converted from natural grass to a synthetic "sports turf." A third field at Memorial Stadium will be replaced beginning in November 2014 at the conclusion of football season. The fields presently under construction will improve the playing surfaces and increase availability of the fields to school teams and groups as well as community youth leagues that rely on school facilities for practice and competition.

The fields are expected to open later this summer. Stay tuned!

  • New Clover Middle School

Grading equipment has been delivered to the site of the new Clover Middle School site off of Barrett Road and Highway 55. We will all soon see work begin on the 120-acre site that will provide a state-of-the-art campus for middle school students on the Western half of our district. The latest architectural rendering of the new CMS is shown below. At first glance you may think you're seeing a rendering of Oakridge Middle School. In actuality, the new CMS was designed using similar plans that were used for Oakridge when it opened in 2008. For those of you who have visited OMS, you will see several noticeable modifications in the design. First, the interior ceiling height has been reduced which will have a significant impact on energy efficiency. Another noticeable change is the location of the gym and the cafeteria, which will be opposite from Oakridge.

We look forward to providing additional updates and photographs of the site work as the project moves forward.

  • New Elementary School

Posted by Mychal Frost on 6/17/2014
It's now June -- nearly three months removed from the March 22 bond referendum vote -- and work is already taking place at the site on Oakridge Ridge where a new elementary school will open in August 2016. Site preparation is well underway at the property as timber has been cleared and is being removed from the site. Up next: grading of the site will begin.
