       Head Coach, Katie Wright

Coach Katie brings a wealth of knowledge to the Clover High School swimming program having competed locally at Northwestern High School before moving on to compete at the collegiate level at Wingate University.  Following her swimming career, she began coaching and is currently the Aquatics Director for the Upper Palmetto YMCA, a position she will retain.

“I am excited to share my passion and love of the sport with the athletes at Clover High School," said Wright.  “Clover is a great school in a great district and I am looking forward to this opportunity.”

“We are excited to announce that Coach Wright will be leading our swim program,” stated athletic director Bailey Jackson.  “She is highly recommended and has been entrenched in the local swim community for some time.  I talked to several folks and they all spoke very highly of her and her ability to lead our swim program.”

After swimming at Wingate for two years, Wright transferred to the College of Charleston where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Arts Management with a minor in Studio Art in 2012.

    Assistant Coach, Buddy Clayton

Coach Buddy started with the CHS Swim Team coaching staff in 2013.  He is also the assistant coach for the River Hills Country Club Swim Team.  Buddy is a Florida native and is accustomed to being around the water.  His years as a year round swimmer and a member of his Varsity High School Swim Team prepared him for Clemson University where he was a member of the Tiger Swim Team.  While in college he coached Plant City Swim Club.  Buddy transferred and graduated from the University of Florida in Building Construction and worked as a builder for several years.  After 9-11 Buddy and his wife decided that they wanted their children to have a stay-at-home parent, so Buddy gave up his small business to embark on the hardest job of all, a full time dad.  He is very proud of his 3 wonderful children and cherishes these special years with each of them.  Buddy enjoys water sports, golf, college football, and spending time with his family.  He is happy to be on the pool deck again and values the rapport he is building with each CHS swimmer in hopes to help improve their swimming but most importantly to impact their lives for good.
