Clover Honored as Softball Field of the Year
The honor comes from the South Carolina Sports Turf Managers Association.

Clover High School proudly had two softball scholars sign letters of intent to play on a college level on Monday, November 17th. They are participants in the national movement known as Early Signing Day 2014.
Marisa Harkey, daughter of Sarah and Ted Harkey of Fort Mill, will be playing for Furman University in the Fall of 2015. She is leaning towards a major in Health Sciences but has her eye on other fields of study as well. A shortstop player at CHS, Marisa has played varsity since she was in the 7th grade and this season will mark her 6th under Coach Shea Hall.
She has been selected to the All-Region team four times and the SC Womens Coaches Association All-State team twice. A former Conference Player of the Year, Marisa has also served on the All Charlotte Observer, Herald and Gaston Gazette first teams. He has been voted by her peers as Most Improved Player and Offensive MVP twice in her career. She has been fortunate to play on teams that have captured the Region 3 4A Championship three times and the District Championship in 2014. She sings in the award-winning Choraliers, has been selected to All-State Choir twice and was a Junior Marshall last year.
Blake Wallert, daughter of Pamela and Steven Wallert of Lake Wylie, has signed a letter of intent to play for Winthrop University. Blake plans to major in Exercise Science and minor in Coaching. She is committed to play short stop but also plays third base. She has lettered in varsity softball all five years, received All-Region in 2013 and 2014 and was inducted into the Hundred Hit Club as of last season. She won the Blue Eagle Award in 2013 and the Offensive Award in 2014 with a batting average of .487 as well as a .744 slugging percentage in 2014.
Both senior athletes are stars in the classroom as well.
