     I hope that all of you had a good and safe summer vacation! I hope that with all of traveling, camps, family vacations that you had some time to play your instrument and practice. My plans are for all of the classes to start playing on Thursday August 22nd. If you have not been playing your instrument this summer it is time to get  it out and see if it still plays. Brass and Woodwind instruments tend develop problems when they go  long periods of time without being played. Woodwinds will develop air leaks. Brass instruments will develop stuck valves and slides. So lets get them out and check for problems. If they need work you need to take them to a repair shop so that you can be ready to play on the 22nd.
    I know that we are going to have a great year! I look forward to seeing all of our returning students as well meeting and getting to know our students who are new to Oakridge. So have a great last few days of vacation and I will see you when school starts back on Aug. 21.
     

    Smart Music

    Smart Music is a great computer assisted home practice program for students. I would recommend that all of our band students use this program. There is a link at the bottom of the page for more information.
