I grew up on a farm in Southwest Virginia. I played baseball and basketball in high school and played college basketball at Bluefield college in Bluefield Virginia. I began teaching in Virginia at Rock Gap High School. I have also been a head varsity basketball and baseball coach at Rocky Gap, where I also served as the athletic director for 3 years. I received a B.S. degree from Bluefield college with a double major in PE and History with a minor in math, earning a teaching certificate in all three areas. I received my masters degree and my specialists degree from Winthrop University. I was also the men's basketball graduate assistant coach for my two years at Winthrop. I have been in the Clover School district for 28 years and in education for 35 years over 3 states. I have been married for 26 years and have 3 children, who attend Virginia Tech, Clemson, and Coastal Carolina.
