  • Larne Elementary School is one of seven elementary schools in the Clover School District. The school is located near the heart of the city of Clover, South Carolina. Larne Elementary provides programs for students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Larne Elementary School is proud to provide an emphasis on academic excellence.

In English/Language Arts, emphasis is placed on success in reading and writing and the use of reading and writing across the curriculum. Reading Recovery, Academic Acceleration,  and Flex Grouping Opportunities support this process.

In Mathematics, emphasis is placed on the development of higher levels of thinking through the use of hands-on activities and the opportunity to solve “real life” problems. State Standards, Academic Acceleration, and the Innovation Lab are an integral part of this process.

In Science, students are encouraged to explore the world around them. The Full Option Science System as well as inquiry-based project materials are initiated to support student learning. The butterfly garden, an official National Wildlife Federation schoolyard habitat, and technology streaming provide meaningful opportunities for the application of science in the real world.

In Social Studies, students are encouraged to explore their world by learning about their families, their community, and the nation. Promethean boards, technology streaming,  student i-Pads, and various innovative technology applications  are research tools to support S.C. Social Studies standards.

Larne Elementary School offers an opportunity to experience success beyond the classroom.

For students who enjoy the performing arts, a chorus program is available, as well as a 5th grade musical production. These practices lead to performance opportunities for their peers, parents, and members of the surrounding community.

Students are involved in service-learning and community outreach through participation in the Larne Elementary School Student Council. Student Council members gain leadership skills and act as ambassadors for Larne. Other clubs are offered, such as Art Club, Girls on the Run, Safety Patrol, Flag Team, and Agriculture Club.

Larne Elementary School offers an opportunity for parents to participate.

Parents are encouraged to take an active part in their child’s education through visits with teachers, participation in classroom activities, and  Family Involvement Nights.

Parent/teacher conferences, parent workshops, and student showcases are ways for parents to be informed of their child's progress and classroom expectations.

Special breakfasts, and holiday family dinners offer opportunities for parents and family members to interact with school personnel.

A PTO operates within Larne Elementary School. Through this organization, parents are involved in learning about and participating in their child’s education. Meetings are held throughout the school year and emphasis is placed on familiarizing parents with the academic focus.
