Welcome to the 6^thgrade! My name is Marianna Kaoud (Kay’ood) and I am thrilled to be your Language Arts teacher. I am beginning my twelfth year as a middle school teacher. While this is my seventh year teaching here, in the Clover School District, I am a native of Long Island, New York, where I attended Long Island University- C.W Post and acquired my Bachelor Degree in Political Science.

        Prior to moving to South Carolina, I lived in Clermont, Florida where I focused my studies in Literacy and Education. There I worked with struggling readers in sharing important reading strategies to help develop and master critical skills for reading and comprehension. Through further training and professional development coursework, I acquired additional certification in working with English speaking students of other languages (ESOL). During my residency in Florida, I taught four years of Language Arts and Intensive Reading. 

        After I relocated to the Carolinas, I had the opportunity to teach at Castle Heights Middle School in Rock Hill where I taught Advanced Language Arts and shared a classroom with another teaching professional as we co-taught a diverse group of students in reading and writing. Upon accepting a position with Clover School District I continued to advance my development as a teacher by engaging in training for South Carolina’s Gifted and Talented Program and attained certification to work with students who exceed grade level expectations by promoting and focusing on critical thinking skills.  

       I consider myself blessed to have worked with amazing professionals through my endeavors as an educator. I am grateful for all the experiences, knowledge and training gained through my journeys. I am eager to share my expertise as I challenge each of you to develop and master your skills beyond your comfort level and further take ownership of your own learning. 

     In doing my homework most recently, I have learned some fascinating qualities about our classroom community, and I am now, even more anxious to get to know more about you!!  I look forward to an exciting and eventful year!
