My name is Allison Welch and I was born in Lancaster, SC on May 26th several years ago. I’ve been teaching Reading Recovery at Bethel, for 14 years. I grew up in a small town and went to an even smaller school, so Bethel truly feels like home to me. I graduated from Winthrop College with a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education and taught resource for seven years in Cheraw, SC before coming to Clover. I have Reading Recovery certification and have National Board Certification in the area of Early and Middle Childhood Literacy: Reading-Language Arts.I love to read and have too many favorite authors and books to name. My favorite books of all time are To Kill a Mockingbird and The Poisonwood Bible. My favorite children’s books are just as numerous, but two of my favorite children’s book authors are Patricia Polacco and Helen Lester.
There are many things that I enjoy doing. One is watching movies with my family. My absolute favorite movie is “The Princess Bride”. I really don’t enjoy cooking, but I love to bake. I also love to paint, but only have time for it during the holidays and summer vacation. Our favorite things to do as a family are dancing and singing. We have dance night every Friday at the Welch house and we plan to add karaoke to that soon! We also love to watch and play soccer. I especially enjoy watching Caleb and Brenna play. Our family favorite team is the Gamecocks! We love to watch Gamecock football and baseball!
