    Michelle Ruggie
    Reading Specialist

Hello! My name is Michelle Ruggie and I am a Reading Recovery teacher for Kinard. I graduated from Notre Dame College with a degree in Early Childhood Education and earned my Masters in Literacy from Concordia University. I have my National Board Certificate in the area of Early and Middle Childhood Literacy: Reading-Language Arts. My teaching experience includes thirteen years in Deaf Education, 15 years as a Reading Specialist. I’m originally from Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Our family moved to Lake Wylie in 2005 and we love it here! I have two wonderful children, Ethan and Mallory. We also have two sweet dogs. My favorite activities are hiking, kayaking, playing tennis, playing family game night, reading, reading, and more reading!!!!

The best part of my job is watching a child blossom as a reader and writer. I create Leadership opportunities in my classroom when students are proactive and sharpen the saw by reading & writing. These students become Leaders in Literacy. Leaders in Literacy then have an opportunity to spend quality time reading with our therapy dogs.
