Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge:  May 4 – September 4, 2020

Did you know that when kids don’t read over the summer, they are likely to fall behind when they head back to school?  These learning losses are often called the “Summer Slide,” and our school has made it a priority to keep our students’ skills sharp by encouraging them to read all summer long.

As we have done over the past several summers, we are encouraging our students to continue reading and to log their reading minutes with Scholastic’s Summer Reading Challenge, a free online reading program.  In September, awards will be presented to those who achieve 2000 reading minutes (that’s about 16 minutes a day).  Our younger students can also count read-aloud minutes.  For more information and for registration instructions, go to the Crowders Creek website  or go to the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge homepage.  At the end of the challenge, students can print a report with their total minutes for submission.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Fisher.  jere.fisher@clover.k12.sc.us

I am a graduate of Clemson University. I majored in Elementary Education and minored in American Sign Language. I grew up in Clover and attended Crowders Creek as a student so it is extra special that I have the opportunity to teach in this community. I have helped coach the Clover High School swim team, Landing Gators Swim team, and Girls on the Run while a teacher here at Crowders Creek. I love to bake and cook and also sell Pampered Chef.
