Boys Soccer 2021On Tuesday and Wednesday January 19 and 20, Coach Carter will have a meeting for 7th and 8th grade male soccer players to update them on tryouts and paperwork needed for trying out. Tryouts will be the start of February. If you are a CVA student, please reach out to Coach Carter so he can share any information needed. OMS vs. Banks Trail (Away) March 10
The OMS boys soccer team traveled to Banks Trail on Tuesday night and came away with its first loss of the young season by a score of 2-0. The Golden Eagles had multiple chances to score, outshooting Banks Trail 11-5 and having 4 corners to 0 for the Wolves. The back of the net was just unkind during the game with the ball falling to within inches of scoring multiple times. Landon Sykes led the offense with three shots on goal while Grady Pierce led the defense . OMS falls to 2-1 on the season and is back on the road next Monday against Andrew Jackson High School and then again on Tuesday at Pleasant Knoll before conference play begins.

OMS vs. Gold Hill (Away)March 5
The OMS boys’ soccer team defeated Gold Hill in PK’s on Thursday night 4-2 after being tied at 2 in regulation. Both teams battled in the first half, with OMS dominating in shots and possession, but Gold Hill struck first at the 25:00 mark to take a 1-0 lead into the half time. The Golden Eagles still dominated in possession the entire second half firing shot after shot, falling to within inches of the post each time. Landon Sykes ripped the upper 90 with 5:00 remaining in the game to tie the score at one. Gold Hill immediately countered at the 56:00 mark to go up 2-1. After multiple attempts in the 18 with Gold Hill holding 10 players in the box, Evan Coverdale scored on a rebound shot to tie the score at 2 with seconds remaining in regulation! Going into penalty kicks, OMS closed out the victory with PK’s by Grady Pierce, Landon Sykes, Dalton Rook, and Tyler Kozel. OMS moves to 2-0 on the season and travel to Banks Trail on Tuesday for another non-conference tilt.

OMS vs. Fort Mill (Home) March 4
On Wednesday night, the OMS Boys soccer team started the 2020 season off in great fashion by defeating Fort Mill 7-2 at home. The first 20 minutes of the match both teams were trying to get their footing and establish momentum. OMS finally broke through at the 20:00 mark on a shot from within the 18 on a rip by Greyson Gabela assisted by Dalton Rook. Fort Mill countered six minutes later to knot the score at 1 apiece heading into the half. At the 36:00 mark, Tyler Kozel found the bottom corner to put the Golden Eagles up 2-1. Kozel struck the upper 90 3 minutes later to extend the lead to 3-1. This time assisted by Jack Hinton. Hinton then found the back of the net himself six minutes later to extend the lead 4-1 off a corner and assist from Chase Winter. One minute later Landon Sykes dribbled through the FM back line to extend the lead to 5-1. FM then countered with a goal to cut the lead to 3. Sykes then again broke through the backline and circled through the 18 to net his second of the game. Finalizing the scoring with one-minute remaining was Grady Pierce who capped off an outstanding defensive effort by getting involved on the offense to end the game at 7-2. OMS begins the young season at 1-0 and travels to Gold Hill tomorrow for another non-conference tilt.
