Please view the PE and Health expectations and policies for all policies, rules, and procedures for PE and Health at CMS.

    Mission Statement:

The goal of our health program at Clover MS is to teach our students the skills they need to live a healthy lifestyle. While the goal of our physical education program is to have maximum student participation every day to ensure each student has the opportunity to acquire a variety of skills that will enable them to develop skills for lifetime fitness activities and meet state standard requirements.

Grading: All 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will have a combination Health and P.E. class, which they will attend for an entire semester.  Students will be graded on Daily Participation, Tests/Quizzes, and Skills/Fitness.  Daily Participation will account for 50% of the students grade, Tests/Quizzes will be 30%, and Fitness/Skills will be 20%.

Discipline:  All discipline in PE and health will be addressed using the CMS adopted discipline cycle.  The student will receive a non-verbal warning or reminder to discontinue a behavior, followed by a verbal warning or reminder to discontinue the behavior.  If the behavior continues after both warnings the student will then receive a consequence such as lunch detention and a phone call home.  For severe infractions students will be referred to the office.

Fitness testing: Students will participate in FitnessGram testing twice during their time in PE.  They will be tested on cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, and flexibility.  They will receive a grade based on their performance on the cardiovascular endurance test only.

Health:  Each grade level has a specified curriculum that is to be followed.  Each teacher has posted an outline of what will be covered on their webpage.  There is a three (3) day comprehensive health unit included into the health curriculum for both classes.  More information will be sent home about this prior to the unit.

Feel free to contact your child’s teacher should you have any questions.  We are looking forward to a great year! Go Blue Eagles!
