About Ms. Wessinger

  • Welcome to Bethel Elementary School Physical Education! My name is Kay Wessinger.  It so exciting to be a part of BES and Clover School District’s family!  I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to teach in such a united and caring school community that continuously strives to help each student meet his/her highest potential. My ongoing goal is to promote healthy lifestyles throughout the Clover school community, and I look forward to getting to know our new students at BES as well as providing all students with the knowledge and skills to stay healthy and physically active for a lifetime.  Above all, my main goal is to ensure that each student discovers the enjoyment of living a healthy/physically active life in hopes that every student will remain healthy and physically active for many years to come.

About me:  I have one daughter, Micah, who loves working out and playing sports, too.  Micah is a Captain in the US Air Force and has played basketball for the women's US Air Force and Armed Forces teams. I also adopted/rescued my sweet Jack Russel mix (Sandy) in Pawley's Island, SC.  I love spending time with my family, dog, and close friends.

I received my B.S./PhysicalEducation degree from Winthrop University in 2002 and National Board Certification/PE in 2008.  I have taught elementary, middle, and high school health/physical education.  I have experience in and enjoy teaching sports skills and healthy lifestyles to people of most all ages, skill(s) levels, and abilities.

My hobbies and interests mainly consist of running (often with my dog!), long jumping, weight lifting, running/playing on the beach, and playing a number of sports. A few of my favorites are tennis, pickle ball, basketball, football (I love punting the football, too.), softball, corn hole, KanJam, target shooting, and volleyball. I also love “strummin’ my six-string”guitar, singing, and listening to music (mostly new and traditional country, southern and classic rock, some pop, classic R&B, and traditional hymns).  Some of my favorite performers/groups are:  Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, Chris Stapleton, Stevie Nicks, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Lynard Skynard, Guns and Roses, and AC/DC.  I bet you didn’t know…….  Some of my favorite childhood memories growing up as a “country girl” consist of swimming and fishing in nearby creeks and ponds, riding my bicycle and dirt bike through the woods/countryside, playing football, rifle shooting, and riding horses. I still enjoy these activities from time to time.

Bethel Elementary students… you now know a lot about me!  I look forward to teaching and getting to know all of you.  If you haven’t already, I hope you will grow to love living an active lifestyle as much as I do.  My goal is to teach you the skills to help you do just that!
