Clover High School to Host 3rd Annual Bennie Bennett Holiday Basketball Tournament December 27-29

Clover High School will host the third annual Bennie Bennett Holiday Classic on 12/27, 12/28, and 12/29. After being hosted for two years at Newberry High School, we are hosting the tournament at Clover for the first time. The boys' basketball tournament is named after former coach and administrator, Bennie Bennett, who was tragically killed in a car accident in 2016 while serving as the superintendent in Newberry. Coach Bennett spent a great deal of his career in the Clover School system as a teacher/coach, athletic director, assistant principal, principal, and associate superintendent.


The following teams will be playing in this year’s tournament:

Clover, Aiken, Spartanburg, Newberry, Seneca, Laurens, Archbishop Alter (Kettering, OH), and Matanzas (Palm Coast, FL).


The action will start on Thursday, Dec 27 at 2:30pm.

Thursday’s schedule:

2:30pm – Spartanburg vs. Newberry

4:00pm – Laurens vs. Archbishop Alter

5:30pm – Seneca vs. Clover

7:00pm – Aiken vs. Matanzas


Games will be played on Friday starting at 2:30pm and Saturday starting at 10:00am.


Any Clover area youth league player (LWAA, Clover Rec) with a paid adult and in uniform will be given free admission to the games.

Admission for all spectators ages 6 and up is $6.00 per day. Tournament passes good for all three days will be sold for $15.00 on Thursday.
