Dr. Sheila Quinn Named Next Clover School District Superintendent
CLOVER, S.C. – The Clover School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously to select Dr. Sheila Quinn as the school district’s next Superintendent in a called board meeting on Monday, February 12. Per terms of the official contract, Dr. Quinn will start on July 1, 2018. Dr. Quinn and Dr. Marc Sosne will work together prior to the official start date to ensure a smooth transition.
“There were three excellent finalists,” said Mack McCarter, Chairman of the Clover School District Board of Trustees. “We are very excited to have Dr. Quinn join the district in this leadership position.”
Dr. Quinn has served as the Deputy State Superintendent for Innovation and Effectiveness at the SC State Department of Education since 2015. Prior to going to the State Department, she served as the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Administrative Services in the Clover School District for five years. Dr. Quinn served as the Executive Director of Middle and Secondary Education for the Rock Hill School District for four years. She also worked as Director of Curriculum, Instructional Specialist, Assistant Principal for Academics, and an English teacher in the Rock Hill School District. She taught one year in Winston-Salem, N.C. Dr. Quinn received her Ed.D degree from Gardner-Webb University, her Masters in Administration and Supervision from Winthrop University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary English from Winthrop College.
“I have had the tremendous honor the past two and a half years to serve my state under the leadership of Molly Spearman, who I believe is one of the best educational leaders to have held the State Superintendent of Education position,” stated Dr. Quinn. “Now, I am doubly blessed to have the opportunity to serve my community as Superintendent of Education in one of the best school districts in South Carolina.”
A resident of the Clover School District, Dr. Quinn is “excited to work with this Board and community to continue the excellent work that has been done before [her] and to develop the vision that will move [the district] to the next level.”
Dr. Quinn believes that the district “has all of the ingredients of a world-class system – a supportive community, a high performing student body and staff, and a progressive school Board who wants to foster a culture of excellence that ensures the district reaches its highest potential.”
The South Carolina School Boards Association assisted the Clover School District Board of Trustees throughout the hiring process.
