Nicole Thompson Named Principal at Griggs Road Elementary

CLOVER, S.C. – Superintendent Dr. Sheila Quinn has announced that the Clover School District Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Nicole Thompson as the next principal of Griggs Road Elementary School.

Thompson, who has spent the past two years as the assistant principal at Griggs Road Elementary, will succeed Kenda Cook as principal following Mrs. Cook’s retirement.

A graduate of Newberry College, Thompson earned a Bachelor’s of Art in Secondary Education as an undergraduate and a graduate school at the University of Phoenix where she obtained a Masters of Art.  A native of York County, Thompson graduated from York Comprehensive High School.

Before her current role at Griggs Road, she was an assistant principal at Oakridge Middle School where she was named the 2017 South Carolina Middle-Level Assistant Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.

In 1998, Thompson accepted her first teaching position in the Clover School District at Clover High School teaching English and coaching girls’ varsity basketball.  She took her first role in administration as an assistant principal at Clover High and stayed in that role until moving to Oakridge Middle.
