I hope your summer is going well and students are staying healthy and safe. Clover School District has been busy this summer working through detailed plans for next school year. The district will finalize a draft of the Fall 2020 School Reopening Plan by June 30th. A parent and teacher forum will provide feedback between July 1st – 8th. The final plan will be released to district families on Monday, July 13, 2020.
South Carolina’s Task Force, AcceleratED, recently released draft guidelines for schools to reopen in the coming school year. Those guidelines may be seen by clicking here (Summary version). Information within the document presents comprehensive health and safety protocols but broad recommendations for determining the best reopening model. Significant flexibility will be given to local districts to select the learning model that works best for their community. Clover School District plans to offer face-to-face instruction in some format (traditional or hybrid) in the fall if conditions related to Covid-19 allow. The CSD 2020 School Reopening Plan will outline detailed information on the student learning models and health and safety precautions.
Thank you to the 4800 parents who completed the short survey on preferred student learning options for next year. Results indicate 25% of families prefer an only virtual learning model for the fall, 45% prefer only face-to-face, and 30% support either face to face or virtual. We are excited to announce that Clover School District will be offering a new Clover Virtual Academy (CVA) next school year for families who know they would like a full-time virtual option. Students in grades Pk-12 will have the opportunity to experience high-quality instruction in a teacher-led virtual classroom environment staffed by Clover School District faculty. CVA will offer scheduled lessons with a teacher, flexible support in individual or small groups, a strong online course platform combined with teacher-developed lessons for core and elective classes, and participation in home school athletic and extra-curricular opportunities. A virtual academy allows the district to accommodate families who may not be ready to return to face-to-face instruction due to coronavirus concerns.
The district will conduct three virtual information sessions via WebEX for elementary, middle, and high school students and their families at the following times:
- July 7 - High School Programs at 6 PM
- July 7 - Middle School Programs at 7:30 PM
- July 9 - Elementary School Programs at 6 PM
If you are interested in participating in our online WebEX meetings or want to receive more information and updates regarding Clover Virtual Academy, please click here! A link to the meetings will also be posted on the district website under News and Announcements on July 6, 2020.
In final preparation for next year, we are sending you a more detailed survey on June 23, 2020 to get eLearning feedback, student health and sanitation concerns, bus transportation needs, and possible shifts in the school calendar. To access the survey, please click here. Again, it is critically important that you take the time to do this survey so that we can be prepared to serve your child next year.
Thank you for your patience as we work to prepare for the coming school year amid rapidly changing information about public health! We will post all pertinent information on our website and send you updates through all of our typical communication tools (email, YouTube page, and social media) so that you stay informed.
Dr. Sheila Quinn
