Quinn Appoints Maurice Thomas as Principal of Crowders Creek Elementary
CLOVER, S.C. – Superintendent Dr. Sheila Quinn has announced that the Clover School District Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of Maurice Thomas as the next principal of Crowders Creek Elementary School.
Thomas, who has spent the past three years as the assistant principal at Bethel Elementary, will succeed Dr. Kershena Dickey as principal following Dr. Dickey’s departure. While at Bethel Elementary, he was visible in classrooms and staff professional learning communities, working with teachers to implement Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), and implementing personalized learning strategies that increased student engagement to 78% “highly committed to their learning.”
A graduate of Winthrop University, Thomas earned a Bachelor of Art in Mass Communication. He earned a master’s degree in School Counseling from Winthrop and is currently working on his Doctoral degree at Gardner Webb University.
In 2013, Thomas began his educational career as a school counselor at Southwest Middle School, a Title I school in Gastonia, before becoming an Assistant Principal. While there, he helped increase academic performance for over 800 students on the state accountability system.

Dr. Sheila Quinn, Superintendent
Mr. Thomas is an active leader in the district’s Each Child… Every Chance (EC2) initiative to increase student opportunities inside and outside the classroom. He brings a high level of energy and enthusiasm to his work and looks forward to the challenges that a big school brings. Next year, Crowders Creek will have a strong administrative team with three experienced assistant principals working under Mr. Thomas’ leadership. I look forward to supporting his vision to continue to build upon the academic success that Crowders Creek is known for while also providing new strategies to support student engagement, behavior, and character.
