Ruth Named CSD Chief Student Services and Secondary Education Officer

Rod Ruth, Principal of Clover High School, has been named the Chief Student Services and Secondary Education Officer for the Clover School District (CSD).

The Board of Trustees approved the appointment at Monday night's business meeting, and Ruth announced it to staff and families on Wednesday. Ruth will fill a position that was left vacant at the end of last summer, which has been restructured to fit the needs of a growing district.

Ruth will finish the 2022-2023 school year at Clover High School and assume his new responsibilities at the District Office this summer. Clover High School remains a highly desirable school in South Carolina; therefore, hiring the next principal is important. The process will involve meetings with stakeholders, including students, staff and parents, multiple rounds of interviews and reference checks. The goal will be to name  the position in May and initiate a start date this summer.

Ruth has been the Principal at Clover High since 2015. He led his staff and school in becoming a finalist for the Palmetto's Finest award and has earned multiple professional accolades, including South Carolina Secondary Principal of the Year.

Superintendent Dr. Sheila Quinn said, "Ruth will be a strong addition to the district leadership team as we plan to open a second high school and a third middle school. His strengths as a former middle and high school principal will make him an excellent mentor and leader of academic programs at the secondary level. Additionally, Ruth has a demonstrated track record of meeting the various needs of students at CHS, which will help influence student support services across the district."

Ruth holds a Bachelor of Science degree in political science from Francis Marion University, a Master's degree in educational administration from the University of South Carolina, and an Education Specialist degree in educational leadership from Winthrop University. He is currently working on a Doctorate in education systems improvement science from Clemson University.
