Griggs Road Students Learn About Plants

First graders from Griggs Road Elementary received a special lesson in plant growth and development from students enrolled in the Applied Technology Center’s (ATC) Agricultural Science classes.

First graders rotated through four stations. One station taught students about the process of photosynthesis. Another station explored the ways in which seeds are dispersed. A third station engaged students in plant identification and learning about the parts of plants, particularly those that we eat. At a final station, students planted a watermelon seed to take home and grow on their own.

Cheyenne Hunter and Rachel Payne are the Agricultural Science teachers at the ATC. First grade teachers at Griggs Road include Patrice Bryson, Allison Maynard, Kayla Cooke and Ginny Hoffman.
