CSD Announces Administrative Appointments
Superintendent Dr. Sheila Quinn announced the hiring of Ms. Donna Farris as the next principal of Clover High School following the approval of the Clover School District (CSD) Board of Trustees during Monday’s board business meeting.
Farris brings 25 years experience in education to CHS. She currently serves as an assistant principal at York Comprehensive High School. Prior to that, she served as a math teacher at York Comprehensive. She also worked as an instructional coach at York Middle School.. She began her career as a math teacher at York Junior High School. Farris holds a bachelor of science degree in mathematics from the University of South Carolina and two master’s degrees. Her master’s degree from Columbia College is in divergent learning, while her master’s degree from the University of South Carolina is in educational leadership.
In addition to the appointment of Mrs. Farris, Dr. Quinn announced the move of two principals to new positions within the district. Mr. Maurice Johnson will be the newest principal at Clover Middle School, while Calub Courtwright will take over as principal at the Ninth Grade Campus.
Johnson, who has been serving as the principal of the Ninth Grade Campus, will become the principal of Clover Middle School where he started his career in CSD after a year in the Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. He came to Clover in 2000 as a sixth grade math and science teacher and served seven years in that role. During that time, he was the head boys’ basketball coach and an assistant football coach. He then became an assistant principal at Clover Junior High School for three years before transferring to Clover High School in 2010. He served another seven years in that role before being appointed principal of the Ninth Grade Campus in 2017. He holds a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Claflin University and a master’s degree in educational leadership and supervision from Winthrop University.
Courtwright, who has been serving as the principal of Clover Middle School, will become the principal of the Ninth Grade Campus. Courtwright first joined CSD in 1999 as a teacher at Crowders Creek Elementary. He left the classroom in 2007 to become an assistant principal at Crowders Creek. He served as the principal of Bethany Elementary from 2010-2013. Courtwright has been the principal of Clover Middle since July of 2013. He holds a bachelor’s degree in education from Geneva College in Pennsylvania and a master’s degree in educational leadership and supervision from Winthrop University.
All three principals will begin work in their new roles on June 5.
