Board to Hold Special Session June 12

The Clover School District (CSD) Board of Trustees will conduct a special called meeting on Monday, June 12, at 6 p.m. at the District Office in Clover.

The purpose of the meeting is for the Board to hear public comment and conduct a vote on borrowing 8% funds in order to obtain the funding necessary to construct a new elementary school in the district.

While voters in the district passed a bond referendum in November to fund the construction of a new high school, an elementary school was not included in the bond package. Elementary school enrollment has continued to increase. Elementary schools were at 88% capacity as the 2022-2023 school year came to a close. Enrollment is expected to continue to grow during the three-year period required for the construction of a new school.

The proposal under consideration by the Board would raise residents’ taxes to the full 26-mills discussed during the bond campaign immediately, rather than taxpayers seeing a more gradual increase in their rates as previously discussed. The proposal does not exceed the tax rates beyond the levels discussed last fall.

The District Office is located at 604 Bethel Street in Clover.
