CSD Announces Administrative Additions/Changes for 2023-2024

The Clover School District (CSD) announced 13 administrative updates over the summer months.

 

Jamodd Jenkins is the new assistant principal at Oakridge Elementary School. Jenkins joined CSD in 2018 as a seventh grade math teacher at Oakridge Elementary. He recently completed his administrative internship with CSD. Jenkins holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle-Level Education from Winthrop University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Queens University. 

 

Kim Lazarek is the new assistant principal at Kinard Elementary School. Lazarek joined CSD in 2018 as a fifth grade teacher at Crowders Creek Elementary. She began her teaching career at Pleasant Ridge Elementary in Gastonia. She completed her administrative internships in CSD at the Ninth Grade Campus and Crowders Creek Elementary. Lazarek holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, Special and Childhood Education from Utica College of Syracuse University. She holds two Master of Education degrees, one in Curriculum and Instruction from Grand Canyon University and one in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University. 

 

Chentra Brewington is the new assistant principal at Clover Middle School. She has been a member of the Clover High School faculty since 2013. At CHS, she served as the Mathematic Department Chair and was the 2021 Teacher of the Year. She completed her administrative internship in the district as well. Prior to joining CSD, Brewington was a virtual math teacher for Fuel Education and a mathematics teacher and department chair at Andrews High School in Georgetown County. Brewington holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from Coastal Carolina, a Master of Science degree in Education from Kaplan University and a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University. 

 

Also joining the Clover Middle School Administration as an assistant principal is Marybeth Willey Herderick. Herderick joins the district from Easley HIgh School, where she served in several roles since 2017. She has been a new teacher mentor, Social Studies Department Chair, Instructional Coach, Social Studies teacher, and assistant marching band director. She previously worked at Pickens Middle School as a Social Studies teacher, Fred J. Miller as a Clinic Administrator and Centerville High School as an assistant band director. Herderick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Social Studies from Eastern Michigan University and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Furman University. 

 

Lia McKay has transferred as the assistant principal at Larne Elementary. McKay previously served as the assistant principal of Oakridge Middle since 2022. Prior to joining CSD, McKay served as the assistant principal of Northside Elementary, the Compliance Monitor for Exceptional Student Education and a special education teacher at Sullivan Middle School, all in the Rock Hill School District. She has also served as a project manager for Health Families SC and as a school-based social worker in Kershaw County. McKay holds a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Social Work degree from the University of South Carolina, a Master of Special Education degree from Grand Canyon University and a Master of Educational Leadership degree from Winthrop University. 

 

Elizabeth Gibson has been appointed the new assistant principal of the Ninth Grade Campus. Since 2008, Gibson has served as an assistant principal at Clover Middle School. Prior to that, she was a Math Interventionist at Clover Middle. She spent an additional 16 years as a classroom teacher at Kinard and Bethel elementary schools, serving as the director of the Allison Creek Preschool and teaching at elementary schools in the York School District. Gibson holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Erskine College and a Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from Winthrop University. 

 

Michelle Petree will serve as the assistant principal of Oakridge Middle School. She joins OMS from the Ninth Grade Campus, where she has served as assistant principal since 2019. Petree is starting her 29th year in education, a career that has encompassed serving as the assistant director of Special Services for CSD, assistant principal of Clover High School and a special education teacher and athletic coach at both Clover Junior High and Clover High School. Petree began her career with Gaston County Schools, where she also served as a special education teacher and athletic coach. She holds a bachelor of arts degree in special education, a master of education in special education and a master plus 30 in educational leadership and school administration, all from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

 

Dr. Jocelyn Gordon will serve as the Science and Content Integration Specialist. Dr. Gordon joins CSD from the Rock Hill School District, where she has served as a Biology instructor and Science Department Chair since 2008. Prior to that, she was an instructor at York Technical College and Phillip O. Berry High School in Charlotte. Dr. Gordon holds a bachelor of science degree in Biology from Winthrop University, a Master in Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Winthrop University, a Master of Education in Biological Sciences from Clemson University and a PhD in Leadership for High Education from Capella University. 

 

Courtney Jones has been promoted to District Attendance Officer. Jones has served as a School Social Worker in CSD since 2004. He has supported Blue Eagle Academy, Clover High School and Clover Middle School. Prior to joining CSD, Jones worked as a Mental Health Counselor at the Lancaster County Mental Health Center. Jones holds a Bachelor of Social Work degree from South Carolina State University and a Master of Social Work degree from The Ohio State University. 

 

Nick LaFave has been named the Personalized Learning Instructional Specialist. LaFave first joined CSD in 2008 after spending 11 years with Cabarrus County Schools and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in North Carolina. He began his career in CSD as a science teacher at Clover High School. He then transitioned to become the innovation coach/technology integration specialist at Kinard Elementary. He joins the District Office team after three years as the district’s Lead Innovation Coach. LaFave holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology from the State University of New York at Potsdam and a Master of Education degree in Learning Design and Technology from Winthrop University. 

 

Leslie Miller has been appointed the Social Studies and Content Integration Specialist. Miller has taught at Clover High School since 2015. Prior to joining CSD, she spent eight years divided between serving  as the lead educator for the Social Studies Department at Saluda High School and Saluda Middle School. Miller holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Social Studies from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Education degree from the American College of Education in Indianapolis, Indiana.

 

Dr. Amy Bowles has been promoted to Director of Early Intervention. Dr. Bowles has served as the Early Childhood Instructional Supervisor since 2015. Prior to joining CSD, Dr. Bowles served as the Title I and Literacy Teacher Program Coordinator and a Title I Reading Specialist and Parent Coordinator with Gaston County Schools. Dr. Bowles also spent six years in various roles, including the Curriculum and Instruction Supervisor for Lake Pointe Academy, a classroom teacher at Clover Middle School and a classroom teacher and Title I Reading Specialist at Chapel Grove Elementary in Gaston County.  Dr. Bowles holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Gardner-Webb University and a Doctorate in Education in Curriculum and Instruction also from Gardner-Webb. 

 

Christie Reid has been promoted to Director of Secondary Learning and Intervention. Reid has served as the district’s Mathematics Instructional Supervisor since 2005. Prior to joining CSD, she served as a mathematics teacher in the Fort Mill School district for nine years. Reid holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Education, both from Winthrop University. She also holds a Master of Education in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. 

 

Prior to the end of the 2022-2023 school year, CSD highlighted the appointment of Donna Farris as the Principal of Clover High School (CHS). CSD also announced the transfer of Calub Courtwright from Principal of Clover Middle School to Principal of the Ninth Grade Campus and the transfer of Maurice Johnson from Principal of the Ninth Grade Campus to Principal of Clover Middle School.
