Our School

Kinard Elementary School is committed to providing a positive, engaging educational experience that prepares students to develop the knowledge, skills, and characteristics outlined in the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate. We strive to foster academic excellence, personal growth, and leadership by providing high-quality instruction that responds to the individual needs of our students. Through our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), students have access to targeted small-group interventions in reading, mathematics, and social-emotional learning, as well as enrichment opportunities. Gifted and talented services are provided for qualifying students in grades three through five. Additionally, one-to-one technology access for students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade enhances instruction, promotes engagement, and helps students develop the digital skills needed for future success.
Leadership development is an important part of the Kinard experience. Through the Leader in Me framework, based on Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, students learn to take ownership of their learning, recognize their strengths, set goals, and develop skills that prepare them to lead both in school and beyond. Students have opportunities to practice leadership through school clubs, service projects, classroom responsibilities, and schoolwide and community initiatives.
Kinard Elementary recognizes that strong partnerships with families and the community are essential to student success. Throughout the year, we provide opportunities for families to connect with the school, learn strategies to support their children academically, and celebrate student growth and achievement. Title I family engagement events provide additional resources and instructional strategies that strengthen the connection between home and school. Events such as the Fall Festival, Veterans Day celebrations, Grandparents Day, Leadership Day, All Pro Dad, and the Fine Arts Festival further strengthen our school community. Our Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) and School Improvement Council (SIC), along with partnerships with local businesses, faith-based organizations, and civic groups, play an important role in supporting students and building meaningful school-community relationships.
At Kinard Elementary, we believe standardized assessments are one of many measures used to understand student learning and school effectiveness. We are committed to continuous improvement through the collaboration of students, staff, families, and community stakeholders. Our teachers provide high-quality, standards-based instruction; our instructional coaches and interventionists provide targeted support to strengthen student learning; and our support staff contributes daily to a safe, welcoming, and productive school environment. School administration works alongside staff to provide the resources, guidance, and support necessary for students and teachers to thrive.
Together, we are committed to providing meaningful educational experiences that help every student recognize their potential and prepare for future success. At Kinard Elementary, we are Learning Today, Leading Tomorrow.
