Thirteen is a lucky number where the Clover School District (CSD) Accounting and Finance Department is concerned.

The Accounting and Finance Department has been honored with two awards from prestigious professional organizations for excellence in fiscal management. It is the 13th consecutive year the department has been recognized with these awards.

CSD received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). The school district’s financial report for fiscal year 2024 was judged by an impartial panel and was said to be “demonstrating a constructive spirit of full disclosure” in communicating the district’s financial story. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

CSD also received the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for financial reporting for fiscal year 2024. ASBO International Executive Director Jim Rowan says, “Communicating the financial and economic state of a district is so important when engaging with the school community and building their trust. Districts that receive the Certificate of Excellence Award have demonstrated their ability to do that at the highest level.”

Ken Love is the Chief Financial Officer. The Accounting and Finance Department includes: Amy Cooper, Director of Finance; George Pendleton, Director of Procurement; Heidi Lineberger, Accounts Payable; Megan Roberts, Administrative Assistant; and Jane Robinson, Payroll.

The district’s audit reports dating back to 2004 are available on the district’s website.

As we turn the page on our calendars today, we also mark another month's progress on CSD's construction projects.

The Roosevelt Middle School Arts Wing is substantially complete, with just canopy and curbing work still ongoing.

At Liberty Hill Elementary, footings are continuing, and masonry is in full swing. Roof trusses are being constructed and installed.

Finally, at Lake Wylie High School, gym roofing is going on, and cafeteria steel is being set. The H wing is dried in, and the G wing is scheduled to be completed next. The Board also approved an athletics funding package that will cover the construction of all athletic fields at the school, except the stadium.

This month's recognitions at the Clover School District Board meeting included external honors for community partners Drs. Ashley and Bertrina Scott and Lake Wylie High School and Ninth Grade Campus Principal Calub Courtwright. South Carolina School Boards Association President Charles Govan was on hand to present the SCSBA Champions for Education Award to Drs. Bertrina and Ashley Scott of Project CLEER. The Scotts have been very engaged in a number of impactful partnerships with the district over the past few years. We are grateful for their incredible support and are pleased their efforts have been recognized by the SC School Boards Association. Maggie McMahon and James Rasmussen , representing the Palmetto Council of Scouting America, made a special presentation to Mr. Courtwright, who has been named the 2025 Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award. Nominated by students, Mr. Courtwright's commitment to students and going the extra mile for students and staff make him a well-deserving recipient of this prestigious award.
