The Oakridge Middle FFA Chapter was named SC Middle School State Champions in the FFA State Horse Evaluation Career Development Event (CDE).
Team members include Gracyn Fite, Gabriella Ortiz, Parker Brittain and Shivani Prakash.
The team competed at the SC Equine Park in Camden. More than 120 middle and high school FFA members were in attendance.
The Horse Evaluation CDE tests students' knowledge of equine science through a written identification test (equipment, breeds, anatomy), a team problem solving activity, and the evaluation and ranking of horses based on breed, conformation, and performance. Participants then must defend their rankings through oral reasons given before a panel of judges.

Ever wanted to have one of your favorite photos recreated in an original work of art?
If so, now’s your chance! The high school art department wants to partner with YOU in bringing one of your cherished photos to life. Funded by a Clover LEAF grant, we are proposing to the community to capture what you love about our CSD community and send it in for a chance to have it recreated by a talented art student which will become part of a community display. Intrigued yet? If so, here’s your mission: think about the aspects of our community that you love - places, people, traditions, events, landmarks, physical spaces…the sky is the limit - and take a great quality photograph that captures this aspect. Older photographs are welcome as long as the quality of image is clean. Using the link below, submit your photograph by Friday, March 8. 24 photographs will be selected to represent our CSD community. Photo credit will go to the original photographer in the exhibit along with the student artist.
