Tri-District Adult Education celebrated the graduation of 48 students during a special ceremony held at the Academies of Clover School District Auditorium.
Director Kristy Austin welcomed family, friends and guests by saying that the graduates were a testament to "the undeniable power of second chances."
She recounted how the graduates celebrated the day they completed their requirements by calling a family member or surprising them by walking out to the car in a cap and gown.
Shanekqua Cougar served as the student speaker. She spoke about the support she received from her "fab five"--her children. She recalled completing online classes in her car while her son was at ball practice.
Dr. Nelecia Murrell of the South Carolina Department of Education Office of Career Readiness told the students that they did not take detour from their path to success. Rather, they were on their path and were where they were meant to be. She called their path "just as valid and as powerful and as full of meaning."
CSD School Board members Jessica Cody, Keron Meeks and Tracy Stiff were in attendance at the ceremony.
