Gifted and Talented (GT) Identification for Transferring Students

This page explains how the GT identification process works for students who transfer into Clover School District (CSD), as well as the process for students who are not placed based on transfer records.

Records Required Before Placement Can Be Considered

The following documentation must be submitted before a transferring student can be considered for GT placement. A student cannot be evaluated for placement without these records.

In-State Transfers (within South Carolina)

  • No documentation is necessary. GT profiles will transfer after registration is complete.

Out-of-State Transfers

  • Documentation of GT/AIG services received in another state

  • Nationally normed test results, including:

    • Aptitude test results (CogAT, WISC, NNAT, etc.)

    • Achievement test results (MAP, Iowa, iReady, etc.)

    • Any test used to determine GT/AIG eligibility

For a complete list of commonly used assessments accepted for each dimension, see Appendix C, Tables 1 and 2 of the SC Gifted and Talented Best Practices Guidelines: Identification.

A summary of current identification criteria is also available in the Gifted and Talented Identification Criteria Quick Guide.

Please submit these records to your child's school office or to the district GT coordinator as soon as possible after enrollment so that placement can be determined without delay.
