Thanks to a generous grant from Clover LEAF, the Montessori program at Griggs Road Elementary is giving new life to a school courtyard garden. Montessori education emphasizes real-world skills, hands-on learning and independence, so a garden project lends itself to this instructional model. The students and parents gathered yesterday to hold a “garden raising” and kickoff the work on the project. The grant funds enabled the Montessori students and their parents to construct garden beds and begin planting strawberries and flowers.

Construction continues at Lake Wylie High School, Roosevelt Middle School and Liberty Hill Elementary. At Lake Wylie High School, three wings are going vertical, including the school's gym. The second floor is being poured on these wings. Roosevelt Middle School's brick veneer is complete. The roof is on, and windows are being installed, meaning the work at this site is shifting to the interior. The focus is now on piping and conduit for HVAC and plumbing systems. Liberty Hill Elementary's site prep has progressed to being ready to start pouring foundations.

Crowders Creek Elementary School's (CCE) Student Ambassadors wrapped up their Spread the Love food drive to collect jars of peanut butter and jelly as a part of Move for Hunger's nationwide campaign to fight childhood hunger in our community. The CCE students worked really hard during the week of Valentine's Day promoting this drive and engaging classes through friendly class competition. Students and their families donated more than 2,200 jars that will go to the Clover Area Assistance Center (CAAC). CCE celebrated the end of the two-week Spreading the Love of PB&J campaign with a pie in the face celebration for exceeding their goal. The school's entire administrative team took a PB&J pie in the face on Valentine's Day. A pick up and delivery event for the donated food is currently being scheduled.

Good morning, CSD! This is your reminder that today is an e-Learning Day to make up for the instruction missed on January 22 due to inclement weather. Today is asynchronous, meaning that students will not log on to their devices for live instruction. Instead, they will be completing assignments in Canvas (the district's online learning management system) or provided paper packets. Completion of the work by Monday, March 3rd will ensure that students are counted as present for the missed school day.

"State of the art." That's how Clover High School (CHS) Athletic Director Bailey Jackson described the school's new Fitness and Wellness Center at today's Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony for the facility. The CHS Fitness and Wellness Center is a $5.8 million project. The 27,000 square-foot facility includes a weight and agility area with 29 yards of turf and school -branded equipment. There's also a multipurpose room, locker rooms, restrooms, showers, a laundry room and an auxiliary training room. Jackson paid tribute to the School Board for investing in continued excellence at Clover High School while balancing the new construction projects associated with growth in the district. Football Coach Perry Woolbright welcomed the invited guests, Athletic Director Bailey Jackson delivered remarks about how the facility would be used and Principal Donna Farris offered closing remarks. The ribbon was cut by School Board Chair Rob Wallace. All seven Clover School District Board of Trustees members attended the ceremony, along with County Commissioner Tommy Adkins (District 3).
